Will T. Key - Account Coordinator Placement Student

"I completed my 12 month Key Account Coordinator Placement at Cummins Darlington Engine Plant."

"During this time I helped to manage a variety of different accounts within the European Region. I was involved in monthly demand forecasting, and updating this as the customer’s needs changed. I was also given responsibility for organising, communicating and hosting customer visits for potential customers travelling from Europe."

A few of my highlights from the year would have to be:

  • Attending the Hillhead Show, an industrial show, where I was able to represent Cummins and meet existing and potential customers for Cummins.
  • Visiting Original Equipment Manufacturers’ sites. I found this really interesting as I was able to see how the engines from Cummins would end up on their production line and be utilised in their machines.
  • Being given the opportunity to create a new process for collating and presenting sales data from the different regions so that it can be presented to Senior Leadership.
  • Having the experience of working on the engine assembly line for a week, which gave me a better understanding of the products I would be selling.

"In addition to my day-to-day work, I got involved in Cummins initiatives such as Every Employee Every Community (EEEC) where we work with charities to help the local community."
